Helping hands...

There are many ways to volunteer at The Gladys & Henry Crown Center for Senior Living, whether you are a resident, friend from the community, family of a resident, or member of a nearby congregation. There are helping hands in our Computer Center and library, at our link desk, in the dining room, with the production of our monthly newsletter, and as hostesses for our many social events. Volunteers assist in the program department with the planning of activities and creating the calendar of events.

Mitzvah moments are numerous with opportunities for residents to give their time to the projects of other local nonprofits and hospitals. Residents knit scarves and blankets and donate to food drives, as the needs arise. Crown Center is a community that benefits from the generosity of others and the desire here to give something back is deep, ongoing, and enthusiastic.

As Edie Sobel, Crown Center resident and volunteer, says, "If you have some time available, it is such a mitzvah to give this. Organizations need all the help they can get. I love working for the Program Department, and basically, I'm in it for the pleasure." (Edie was chosen "Volunteer of the Year, 2005" by the Activity Directors Association of Missouri.)
